JDownloader 2

Logo für JDownloader

JDownloader 2 is a free and open source software for bulk downloading files from a myriad of hosters and services. Download addresses may be collected via clipboard or as “encrypted links”. JDownloader can store videos from YouTube and allows the usage of many somewhat shady one-click hosters – including almost automated downloads. Downloads may be paused and resumed (if the hosting server supports it) and the download speed can be limited.

The application is programmed in Java; executable binary packages are available for all platforms.

Installation

There is no deb package provided anaymore. Instead, you download the official installation script for Linux, make it executable and run it. The package is then installed in your home directory and updates itself automatically each time the program is started.

Alternatives

uGet claimed to be “the #1 Open Source Download Manager”, but is no longer developed. Kget is the download manager for KDE.
