On 19 October 2018 Ubuntu 18.10 “Cosmic Cuttlefish” was published. Other then ist LTS predecessor 18.04, this version is only supported for nine months. However, it brings fresher software through the bank.

At the heart of the system is Kernel 4.18, which works with numerous driver and performance improvements. Ubuntu’s standard desktop has been updated to Gnome 3.30 and finally has a contemporary design thanks to a new GTK theme called Yaru, figuring as community project.

The software updates are also visible here in the Ubuntalog on the pages of the individual applications, so that the new versions can be compared with those of LTS version 18.04.
